09/23/2005: "Need C&R Pistols? You are in luck!"

I am not in such a state, so don't quite get all the vagiaries of this, but I understand that C&R firearms are easier to get for those of you in certain places, like California.

Well, there are loads of Star pistols made before 1954. And lots of those are being sold at low, low prices right now. Many of those Bs, BMs and B-Super pistols will be more than 50 years old, so snap them up.

Well, reader Bob Burns is one of those sad California residents, and is looking into the details for us. So far it seems that the proofmark dating chart is valid for these purposes, so print it out and keep it with you at gun shows and pawn shops.

Sarco, being one of the larger importers/sellers of these guns, says they have "too many C&R pistols to list." Which of course makes it hard to tell what to buy, but they are friendly, so if you have a question, call them up. Bob might be able to pry some more specific info out of them, so check back here in a week or two (I'll be travelling, unfortunately) for updates. Or, just call them up yourself, using the contact info on the Parts & Accessories page.
