Model C Page Done

I have finally gotten around to paying attention to all the stuff various readers have sent and the Model C page is finally in usable form. Check it out.

Special thanks to Harvey Golumbic for numerous nice photos of his CO E. If anyone has a model CK, I would love a photo of one, so email me. Manuals are also good, though the Model F manuals will get you a long ways towards getting one apart.

Some Magazine Deals at SARCO

If you need a mag for your Star pistol, its usually not that hard to find one. Looking at my list of magazine dealers is a good place to start.

SARCO has had a large supply of Star parts, pistols and factory magazines for some time, and is starting to advertise them, often with really good prices. Here's a selection of just some advertised lately:

B Super:
(SARCO insists on calling the B Super the "Modelo Super")
$13.50 each, or 3 for $34.50, or 10 for 99.50!

Model F:
$30.00
Model FN & FR, used mags:
$25.00
Model A Super:
$30.00
BM & BKM:
$30
Model B:
$30
Model PS (.45):
$30
Model PD (.45):
$32

Aluminum Slides?

The Model F Olympics continue to baffle me with their strangeness. Now I hear (reliably) that the slide is made of aluminum! This certainly explains how they got the gun to operate; the reduced mass would make it much easier for the low-powered cartridge to function. But I have never, ever before heard of any gun having an aluminum slide, bolt or anything. So, weird and clever Star engineers.

I suspect these are not that sturdy, even just fed the anemic .22 Short. Any Olympic pistol may be more of a collector than a shooter, anyway.

More collectable Stars coming up shortly.

Gimme a little while

If you've been wondering why I haven't posted an update lately, or even responded to email, I've been out of town for a couple of weeks. Actually, partly out of the country. In addition, there's something wrong with my ftp access, which makes it hard to work on the site.

Now that I'm back, I'll be getting thru the unexpectedly large email supply, and trying to update some things.

Stand by...
